Farheen Makani, PMHNP-BC, is an experienced psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner offering services to children, adolescents, and adults from various cultures and backgrounds at Aura Psychiatry, PLLC in San Antonio, Texas. Farheen practices holistically, listening and understanding each patient’s concerns and offering customized treatment plans.
Farheen completed her Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing degree at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She then went to the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) in Arlington, Texas, to earn her Master’s degree in Nursing and Family Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Her commitment to exceptional professional standards and continuing education means Farheen stays up-to-date with new and better treatments for psychiatric patients. Farheen is also an active member of the North Texas Nurse Practitioners Association (NTNP) and the American Nurses Association (ANA).
She works with integrity and compassion and respects each patient’s confidentiality. She is committed to providing high standards of care that promote patient safety and improve their overall quality of life. Her extensive experience and considerable empathy mean Farheen excels in helping patients with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychosis, and addiction disorders.
She performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and has expert medication management skills.
Farheen believes in educating patients and their families, so they understand their illness and the recommended treatment. She offers advice on health promotion and disease prevention and, where appropriate, refers patients to programs and facilities that enhance their treatment. Farheen also collaborates closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
